Web28 sep. 2014 · The chuck mechanism seems to be a finer thread and so gives greater purchase (or torque) meaning you can achieve a similar or even better grip to that of a keyed chuck. Well, at least that's how it seemed to me. BTW, I was always told to do key up all three holes too, which I still do.
